Before Tonight" was a return with old musical friends to the Song Shop recording studio. Though several of the songs had been honed with live performances, none of the songs had been previously recorded. The original working title of the album was 'West of the Don', a line from the song "Cabbage Town", however Scott's friend William Prince listened to an early version of the album and suggested a new sequence and title and here we are.
